We are originally from LA and moving to San Diego later this year. My husband will be working in south National City. I work from home. We have a toddler and I am looking for neighborhoods that are safe, family friendly, not too far from his job and hopefully not outrageously expensive. Any ideas or do I need to amend my "wish list"? Thanks in advance.

Eastlake would probably be a good choice. Here's a sample rental:
Open to View SAT 5/22 from 10:30-11:15***AVAIL 7/1***3BR/2.5BA HOUSE**

Your husband would have about a 20 minute commute to work.

You don't have to give up on your wish list.Without a doubt "EastLake" or almost anywhere in East Chula Vista. Its a great place for families. Plenty of parks and open spaces for children and I think a price range for all incomes whether renting or buying a home. Although you don't have school age kids yet , the schools are very good in the Eastlake area. Good luck and hope you find all your needs.

Third vote for East Lake - zillions of kids/families. Bonita is also a very nice older/established area.

East Lake
EastLake
Eastlake

Seems that nobody is consistent with the spelling.

Agreed socketz. I wouldn't live in National City but Eastlake is awesome. All new shops and merchants and close to everything. Good Luck!
