Hey all,

I went out and bought a used pair of rollerblades yesterday and used them at the Mission Beach boardwalk. I had so much fun! I haven't been rollerblading since I was about 11 years old so it was definitely exhilarating! Shame it was overcast; damn June gloom!

Are there any other good places to go rollerblading in SD? I love doing it at the Beach and I noticed Mission Beach was better for blading than Pacific Beach cause as I reached PB, the boardwalk got a lot narrower.

Is Coronado Island a good place, too? I know some places don't allow rollerblades (i.e. Balboa).

Thanks,
Dan

Mission Bay has miles of concrete walkway. I biked there yesterday.

Also, La Jolla Shores has about 1/2 mile of boardwalk. Here's a map:

I've been rollerblading for 20 years now and have never worn a helmet or knee pads and am alive to tell about it. In fact, I can't remember ever falling. I rollerblade all over SD and never see people with them, so keep that in mind!

Here's a link with different places to skate around the area. The beach gets crowded in MB/PB, so you can't really get a good speed. Silver strand is a much better bet if you want to be near a beach, but without the Mission Beach tourist crowds.

The Strand in Coronado is great. I acutally like Lake Murray for the hills as it really works my legs. Definitely know how to navigate hills b4 going there, but I love to skate ther. Have you considered taking lessons?
