That's impossible to ask of anyone on this forum apparently.

If you read a lot of the post here, apparently East Oakland is a great place to raise families, and West Oakland is becoming an "artist cove".

LOL

Well the areas the original poster said there were going to be are pretty safe, probably pick pocketers (sp?) would be the biggest deal. I also had my window broke in my car in the parking garage across the street from Pier 39 but that was my own fault with a wrapped wedding present in clear view... lesson learned.

Have fun SF is a great city!

Ya might try and head to the North Beach festival your last day if you want to get a better feel of the city and it's inhabitants. You could trolly up from Powell, walk right through China town, and right into North Beach..killing about 5 birds with one stone.

Sunset is not a tourist trap but Golden Gate park and the museums in particular get tonnes of tourist traffic. There are lots of tourists in cliff house/sutro baths too.

Jman and Rah:

I didn't realize that comment would have offended you. I think where OP is going to be, s/he is going to be with a decent amount of tourists. Does anyone believe OP is going to be walking through Excelsior or Richmond? Yeah, technically you're right - but the OP's experience dictates that they're going to be with a lot of tourists while they're exploring.

Fisherman's Warf, Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, Market/Embarcadero, Haight-Ashbury, Lombard/101, GG Park - everywhere OP is going is going to be packed with tourists just like them.
