True. When you break it down to "each" it's very affordable.

As for the rest...."burger flippers" are usually kids still living at home or someone who isn't living alone. Minimum wage jobs usually aren't going to allow you to rent an apartment by yourself so many people have roommates or rent rooms from other people. These jobs aren't ment to carry you long term, they are starter job. When you move up you can move out!

Maybe in normal times, but we aren't in "normal" times.

People laid off from high paying jobs are taking jobs that pay far less than what they're accustomed to, simply because nothing better is available.

Newly divorced (or widowed) women re-entering the workforce and have little or no work experience often go into fast food and other similar jobs.

Some of these are kids who are trying to work their way through college, many of them don't have families who are willing or able to help.

A large number of them are physically or mentally challenged, maybe not enough to collect disability, but still not able to do anything that would earn them a higher income.

Where do these people go for affordable housing?

Yeah I read those stories in the paper but do you know anybody who's actually done that?

Personally? No, but I see them interviewed on the news regularly.

They probably move out of their $4000 a month apartment into a $1000 a month place. A lot of these people were making like $200,000 a year in joke jobs and now they're making more like $50,000 which would be a good salary for a lot of people.
