We're having serious noise issues with the renters across the street. We call the police, they come out, but nothing seems to have changed. Short of make a "citizen's arrest" as the police said we could do, we thought we should try to find out who the landlord is and complain to him/her.

Anyone know how to find a landlord in San Francisco? We can't find anything in various web searches.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Try Propertyshark.com....

Keep a log of the disturbances, and then sue the owner in small claims court. If you and your neighbors do separate cases and win the max each time, it will soon get the landlord to evict this clown.

I don't remember what you sue the owner for, but I know it's been done in the past successfully....

Most title companies will give you the name of the owner of a piece of property. Ask for their customer service department.

Just about all records are located at the county recorders office in the county the property is located...

Before computers... I was a frequent visitor researching ownership records for property I was interested in buying.

Complete online records were readily available a few years ago untill security concerns removed public access...

If law enforcement isn't willing to act... not sure how swift a landlord in SF can... SF has very strict rent control laws and it is not like the old days where a landlord could simply give 30 day notice to move and then evict...

Thanks for all the input. Some great solutions here. The police said that I could make a "citizen's arrest." I'm not sure what that entails, exactly, aside from going to court. I'm keeping a log of the disturbances, and I keep calling the police and reporting them. In the past few weeks it's gotten a little better - but they always seem to start up at 8:30pm and then when 10:00 hits they stop. So they know they're disturbing the neighborhood and I'm sure something has been said to them at some point. That's too late for people who have to get up early, in my opinion.

The few times I've come home early from work - they're at it in the afternoon as well. It's endless. Someone I talked to said that if they're "rehearsing" then they need to get a studio and not create this constant noise in a residential area - regardless of whether we're considered "city" or not.

I'll check the county recorder's office website and see if I can find anything. I want to contact the landlord first.

Here's hoping...

Have you tried going over and talking to them directly and let them know your concerns? Sometimes if you let them know your situation they will comply. Besides you guys are neighbors, so you should be looking out for each other, not against each other.
