What are some street gangs in the Bay Area? Where are they located? And why do you believe they are street gangs?

Sureños - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Norteños - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These are two of the major Hispanic gangs that are always at odds with one another in SF. There are other smaller gangs but I can't think of their names, I'm sure there are newspaper articles online about current gang activity.

MS-13 is another gang that occasionally rears its ugly head in San Francisco, Richmond etc. There have been a couple of high-profile busts in the past couple years.

Sat on the Grand Jury in the late 80's/early 90's. Most cases were gang related Nortenos vs Surenos in the Mission over turf. In the Bayview it was the HPB ( Hunters Point Boys) vs SDM ( Sunnydale Mob) over drug territory. Ironically they had very poor marksmanship. They seem to hit everyone but their intended targets. MS13 now has a presence and is very dangerous, note the Bologna family shooting. The sooner Kamala Harris goes as DA the better. The gangs change names and territories as LEO's crack down on them. They are sort of like human cockroaches. Recently, at least within the last 5 years LE moved against the Big Block gang vs the Page street gang war over rap record profits. Yes SF has gangs but so long as you do not engage in activity that will run afoul of them you are relatively safe. I don't cower in my house but I don't wear red/blue sportswear or do drugs and take "appropriate" precautions depending on the

The 2 most notorious and dangerous gangs are called the "Democrats" and "Republicans."
Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the 2 gangs. They won't secure the borders and they'll tax you to death, so be careful!
