I'm relocating to Berkeley and I need to know about safe zipcodes (areas) to research for my move. I also have a 13yr old daughter so any info about the school system would help as well.

A good rule of thumb is the further East you go, the safer it gets.

Also, the further North you go. However, price increases. I lived in South side Berkeley for many years and didn't have many problems. Just stay away from Oakland and you'll be fine.

Rockridge is a LOT nicer than South Berkeley........

I'm glad you felt so insecure about where you live that you had to bring it into a thread about Berkeley.

I was merely pointing out that your "advice" was total BS as usual.

@Mr. Fantastic, you mentioned Oakland in a Berkeley thread, that seems a lot like instigating.

On the whole, where Berkeley and Oakland share borders the neighborhoods are similar in terms of safety, amenities and affluence. The average person would be har pressed to tell which side was which.

I think discussion of Oakland is pertinent since it's a border city of Berkeley.

Also, there's a WORLD of difference between Berkeley and Oakland when it comes to "safety". The murder rate is MUCH higher in Oakland than in Berkeley. That's a statistically backed fact. Saying anything to the contrary is simply an attempt at being dishonest, and an outright lie.

Go to the area around Sacramento and Ashby in Berkeley and tell me you'd feel safe there at night or safe living there with a 13 year old kid, or that you'd rather live there than Rockridge or the nice parts around Lake Merritt or in the Oakland Hills.

Giving bad and potentially dangerous advice is one thing, acting whiny and attacking others when you're called out on it is quite another.

Sacramento and Ashby is South/West Berkeley. We already addressed that in the first 3 post. You simply failed to read.
