Hey guys
Can any of you guys please give me an idea for scientist(pharmacology/biochemistry) salaries in the Bay area. I am a fresh PhD but my skills match perfectly what they are looking for. If you are asked your salary expectations what are you supposed to say. Thanks in advance.

Not a clue. Ask for something outlandish. You might get it. It won't keep you from getting a job but will put you at the negotiating table. If you price yourself too low, it sends a signal that you don't value your own skills. As a retired business owner, I wouldn't hire anyone with a low opinion of themselves. Personnel with inflated egos can be a real pain but they also tend to want to prove themselves. This is good from an employer's point of view. People with low self esteem have low expectations and are generally poor performers. Get room (or lab) full of ambitious ego maniacs competing with each other and stuff starts to happen.

Find out what the average pay for people in your field and ask 50% more. You won't get it but at least they'll talk to you. If I were looking at resumes and saw a request for less than average, I'd toss it because I'd assume you were desperate or you just sucked. Companies want profit and growth. That only happens with ambitious profit-oriented people. If you are good, they'll pay you well to keep you.

Good luck.
