Interestingly, Pelosi's opponent, John Dennis, is polling much better against her than any Republican has in many years, to the point that some Republicans are already boasting about Pelosi losing her seat. I'm voting for Dennis, because he supports Prop 19 unlike Pelosi. However, I'm not optimistic about his chances of winning ; Pelosi most likely will just win with 55-60% of the vote compared to her usual 70% plus.

And it will be the most progressive state this country has ever seen.

Probably, I'm older than dirt. How well anything plays depends upon to whom you are spaking at that point in time. I am not a political animal; it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I've lived to see some wondertul and interesting things in my life - and it's a lot better than viral ads. In fact I reamember when candidates actually debated and politicians listened. It's been a long time; doctors were still making house calls.

If you remember doctor home visits, as do I, then you're decidedly a member in good standing of the old fart set.

Amazing, isn't it, that at one time candidates for office actually discussed issues and policy? Not only that, they did so in relatively constructive and civil terms. It was a far cry from the personal attacks and sound bites that are considered debates and political ads in the current society.

Curmudgeon, there was actually a time when issues were discussed? Now I don't think I've ever seen that before. I think this is why I haven't kept myself up to speed much on a lot of these races. I don't know much about the candidates other than what they're able to dig up on their opponents.

Yeah! Hard to believe, isn't it. I really believe Richard Nixon's demise as President was the starting point for the extreme and unhealthy partisanship, name-calling and character assination that pervades today's politics. Before that there were differences but they were dealt with and discussed far more civilly. Now it's mostly ad hominem attacks from both sides of the political spectrum. We now have career politicians rather than statesmen.

People like myself are taking my cash, job skills, tax dollars and good credit to another state.
