But, raise your taxes .25 percent to increase the pay for the teachers who teach your children, the fireman who put out your fires and rescue you, the police officers who save your life, etc and you go through the roof.

Professional sports has no socially redeemable value and should be banned. The money WASTED for these morons, should be used for the social programs, you want and make me pay for.

This is just one more example of the hypocritical aspect to San Francisco. You liberals want and want and want everyone else to pay for it. Want to balance the budget? Ban this waste of money...
In our country, I am FREE to spend 9 bucks for a hot dog, and 250 bucks for a seat, if I so choose. But that tax to increase the pay for teachers, law enforcement and fire protection would be by FORCE. And what do we get for that? Higher dropout rates. Police chiefs that retire at age 50 with 90 percent of their pay for life. If that money truly went where it was needed - for the teachers in the classroom, the cop on the beat, and the fireman on the truck, I'd be all for it.

In the meantime, Go Rangers!!!!

And they are celebrating this? Let me see here. How much money is being WASTED on the World Series. MILLIONS of dollars. Those millions could be going to what: Oh, how about all the foreclosures in the People's Republik of Kalifornia? How about paying for childcare? Healthcare? How much food could be purchased for hungry, needed persons?

The World Series is a waste of money and resources. So are ALL major sports. All that money WASTED; it could be used in much better ways.
and what part of jobs do you not understand? Whether they are temp jobs or what, there are a lot of people who are employed during playoffs. The sport is entertainment to many, just like I said yesterday, movies and concerts are a form of relaxation to many. You do not have to go to the games, support them or even watch, but you are being very judgmental as well. If you think the money that is spent at sporting events or spent on athletes would go to the hungry or to help idiots who paid too much for their homes, you have another thought coming. And childcare? Paying for childcare? what is that all about? So we should now pay for childcare and have another socialistic program in place. You are making absolutely no sense. You also are the most unusual thinking cop.

In order to win a World Series, you have to be able to score runs. Good pitching alone doesn't guarantee a championship. As good as Tim Lincecum is, Cliff Lee is still better. I think he is 9-0 to begin a post season career, trailing only the great Orel Hershisher and he may tie him at the end of Game 1. And yes, Matt Cain is a solid starting pitcher but his team usually doesn't give him enough run support.

The Giants are not a team that scores lots of runs on the opponent and this could prove to be costly for them. The Giants are going to compete of course and they will put a little scare into the Rangers but it won't be enough. They will have to beat Cliff Lee twice and somehow manage to beat one of the other starters to win the series and I just don't see that happening. Rangers will win in six games.
they said the same thing about the phillies
their hitters were so much better, arguably the best starting rotation in baseball (Halladay who will win the nl cy young, Oswalt and Hamels)
the phillies rotation > the rangers
yet the Giants still won, 4-2
how exactly is Cliff Lee better than the reigning 2-time cy young winner lol.. u act like Lincecum is some no name 3rd starter.
the giants bullpen > rangers.
Go Giants

I didn't try to make Tim Lincecum look like a no name 3rd starter. What I will say is that as great as he is, Cliff Lee is better, that's the point. I just think San Francisco fans will have to wait just a little longer for their championship. The Phillies offense was inconsistent that's why the Giants won. That's one of the reasons. And let's not forget that if the Padres hadn't lost 10 games in a row at one stretch in the season and made the NL West race close, the Giants wouldn't even be in the playoffs. And besides, most of the pro sports teams in the Bay Area suck pretty bad now. The Giants are a great story this year for Major League Baseball. Other than that, the only other pro sports team that has been any good recently and getting into the playoffs is the San Jose Sharks.

how is cliff lee better.. lincecum was 16-10 with a 3.43, lee was 12-9 with 3.18
lincecum had 231 strike outs. lee had 185
leee was traded to the rangers 30 minutes into the season and basically had better hitters behind him the entire season, which is what he always had in philly. yet he wont win the cy young this year, he didnt win it last year or in 2008. but he's better than lincecum. no you're right. history proves you right. lol
"most of the pro sports teams in the bay area suck pretty bad right now"

yes that's relevant. and i bought a subway sandwich this morning. who cares.

People in Texas only really care about college football and the NFL, while Giants fans are among the best and most devoted in baseball. Texans will pretend to root for the Rangers for a while then 5 minutes after the last WS game will go back to obsessing over the Longhorns or whatever.

You've completley misjudged Texans.

Dallas Cowboys + Longhorns + Rangers < Texas High School Football.

Euless Trinity Trojans > SF Giants. That's just the way it is. And Trinity has more titles, too!

Ironically a good chunk of that Trinity team has strong ties to the Bay Area as most Polynesians originally moved to Euless from the SF Peninsula to work at American Airline's hub at DFW. That's why most of the Polys live in Euless and Hurst-close to work.

I know, cause Im related to a many of Trinity's varsity players...LOL

boy do you have that right. We lived in Texas for 13 years, they are avid sports fans, from middle school through pros including the Mavs, San Antonio, college, high school and whatever falls inbetween.
