I'm going to be staying one night in SF in November and I'm looking into hotels near union square. I've stayed at the Hilton on O'farrel and it was decent. I'm lookin at the Westin St. Francis or the Palomar. Has anybody stayed there? What about the Westin on Market Street?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Westin St. Francis , Parc 55 Wyndham (near Powell St. cable car turn-around) and the Marriot at Market and 4th St. are all good choices. For a smaller hotel, check out the Pickwick Hotel near 5th and Market. They all have websites. All are within walking distance of Union Square (shopping), the cable car and the BART/Muni light rail subway station.

My friend loved her stay here. New, green and oddly cheap. It is maybe 4 blocks away from Union Square and it is on a really cute block.

They have a sister hotel a couple blocks closer to Union Square. it is 2 vs 4, but these are short blocks.

The Four Seasons on Market and Grant is excellent.

Im not aware of a Westin on Market Street near Union Square(but I could be wrong)-the St Francis is right on the Square and is convenient, plus very victorian inside the lobby-but you'll probably be put in the modern tower. The Grand Hyatt is steps from the Square and is another good choice. The Palomar that you asked about is a really nice boutique hotel on Market and Fourth.

Westin Market Street is the former Argent which had previously been the ANA and which had originally been built as Le Meridian.
