Hey everyone!

Listen, I often see these homes in movies, images, magazines ETC. and when I think Victorian Homes, I think about this street right here on the picture (I don't know the name) but I'm talking about these homes featured. They must have a pretty big value since they are SO much renowned, what do you think? By curiosity, I was wondering if anyone knew their actual market value? My guess is between 6-12 Million probably?

Thanks,

Matt

That range is *way* off. One of them (720 Steiner - second to leftmost one) changed hands in 2001 for around $1.2 million. It's probably worth a bit more than that now, but nowhere close to the range that you put down.

Really? Shocking! I always look up San Fran real estate and I see a lot of ugly buildings or very regular homes for ridiculous prices. 1.2M is very low! Especially with the publicity this row of homes gets. Might even want to grab one next time it's on sale LOL

The leftmost house in your picture is for sale now for 2.95 million. They originally listed it at 3.2, and I think it's going to drop again before it gets sold.

If you consider the location, the price doesn't seem ridiculous.

This is because the value of the home is not based as much on square footage, age or design as it is on where the home is located.

That being, a home in SF or NYC will cost considerably more than an identical home located in a location with a lower cost of living.

Just thought I'd bring you up to speed.

Postcard Row is not really in a top neighborhood. The same size and style house in Pacific Heights, Russian Hill, or Cow Hollow will fetch 2-3 times the price.

Yes they were some of the original zero lot lines as such.
Other areas of the city are much more desirable.
The think you have to know too is if they have been updated or not.
A friend bought one in the early 80s out in the Sunset area with a pretty nice lot and paid around $140K if I remember right. But it needed full refurbishment and modernizing too.

As others have mentioned, it's not in the most desirable neighborhood (for example, the Webster housing projects are just a couple of blocks away). Additionally, I doubt that having busloads of tourists stopping in front of your home and gawking at your house on a daily basis does much to enhance the price of the home.
