Hello everybody!

I'm a new poster and have been trying to search up answers for this and am still left unanswered. I've been living in San Francisco for about 5 months now and am looking for a cool place to go that looks somewhat decent and has good appetizers/dinner and drinks. Maybe within vicinity of dancing. My partner and I are gay, but the castro scene gets tiring and cliche. Looking for something that might be accepting but more mixed!

Any input is appreciated. Need to mix up the friday night routine.

Jeremy

I love the Press Club, it is on 4th and Marktet. Cool space. It is an "urban wine bar." No "big plates" but the small plates/snacks etc are good. It is also a great place to bring a group of people. You walk in, swipe your credit card for a temporary payment card and head downstairs for tasting, eating and lounging.

Have you been to Cigar Bar? It is around Montgomery/Pacific. The drinks are good. Good appetizers and they play Salsa in the evenings. They also have a cool patio.

Comstock Saloon (Columbus/Kearny) has great drinks and surprisingly good food.
Alembic (in the Haight) is also another spot with great drinks and excellent food.

If you want to cross the bay, you can try the following spots around downtown Oakland (not far from 19th BART):
Mua (good drinks, good food, and a great DJ ..usually plays r&b, funk, pop songs and 80s. Sometimes house. Fun place, and they serve food late. Very Oakland crowd: super diverse and friendly.
Ozumo in Oakland is much better than the one in SF. Better space, better happy hour.
Luka's Taproom: older crowd (late 20s, early 30s) and good food/drinks and DJ usually plays 80s/90s. But you could just go across the the Plum, and check out the new Daniel Patterson place.
Flora: excellent drinks! The food was good, but a little expensive. The menu has changed since I have been and the cost/food ratio has improved. (Although I would have said the food was GREAT is I hadn't been to Alembic the same week, which has amazing food that was 10% cheaper.) All of the places above are in Uptown, and you will surely find somewhere fun nearby.

Off the beaten path of uptown is a fun bar/lounge place called the Layover. Great drinks, and fun music. 80s/90s/mashups it is all over the map.

Bar Agricole, 11th and Folsom. Great drinks, great food, and a cool patio in the front for nice nights.
