Hi, I am a new grad, moving to SF from east coast. I was looking to live not too far from my work place, so I choose San Mateo; however, Palo Alto is also another possibility. Any area around San Mateo or Palo Alto is fine. I would like to ask for some advices about finding apartment in the areas. Do you have any apartments you have had good experience with?

My salary is about 100K. I am looking for a 1bed, 1 bath unit. I was researching and found De Sabla Apartments in San Mateo very appealing, any ideas?

Thank you.

What's your age? That will help people give you advice.

How the heck does a 21 year old just out of college get a job making 100K? I clearly majored in the wrong things.

Being a single 21 year old male might be an issue when renting an apartment.

But at any rate, check out San Carlos (halfway between San Mateo and Palo Alto), with a nice downtown and easy walking distance to many apartment buildings, shopping, Caltrain train station and parks. It's a nice, safe middle class town.

Thanks for the replies. Do you guys have any apartment complex you would recommend? I prefer living in a good neighborhood, which is not too dead. I lived in the area last summer, and some of the areas were too quiet.

Sorry I meant to say, " I lived near Palo Alto last summer, and some of the areas were too quiet."
