Thanks vdy1985! Yep, fortunately, I just started saving and organizing my gas receipts, so I could more easily track gas mileage and average price per mile I am paying on a spreadsheet. I think they will be reasonable, as will I!

You could do what I've done when over-charged.

File a complaint with the District Attorney for fraud and fill out the form at the business, just to make sure you have all the correct information so there is no misunderstanding or mistakes.

Gas Station managers usually have little digression in my experience.

The next step is a formal demand letter, and if unsatisfactory, follow through with a small claims action.

I'm certain, the company will make it right to avoid negative media coverage, lawsuit, class action lawsuit and sanctions by the Fraud Unit.

Also, City Hall is just around the corner and every business needs to be licensed.

It would bug me too!

I think you can have lots of fun with this if you want to.

The key is showing ARCO you are serious, stating what you expect to make it right and then your next move is up to them... they either settle or you escalate.

Good catch on the qty of gas... I doubt many would be so astute

Good point with contacting the DA and filing a complaint! I probably would not have thought of that Ultrarunner.

As for catching the error, I'm not so sure that I'm astute--it's just that I generally fill up when the light goes on, so I have a good sense of how much the total should be, in gallons. I always want to make sure I am never close to running out, so I know my fuel tank capacity is 20 gallons.

Mine are 15.9 and 34.5 for the 1985 Chevrolet truck and I don't think I will ever get used to $140 for a tank for the truck
