Tom Brady's defiant rise to the top as New England Patriots quarterback captured by 'Brady 6' - ESPN Boston

I just read this article on how the 49ers could have picked Tom Brady, rather than Giovanni Carmazzi. It breaks my heart. 49ers could have also picked Aaron Rodgers rather than Alex Smith.

This has been a devastating decade for the 49ers. We passed up two local players who grew up in the Bay Area, fantisized about being the next Joe Montana and Steve Young, and could have led us to several more Superbowls.

I'm pulling my hair out on how horrible Jed York has been to our team. We were once a proud and successful franchise, and now we are the laughing stock of the NFL. People at work laugh at me for still being faithful to such a horrible team. It's like Darth Vader took over and has driven out the Good side of the force.

Please let there be a "New Hope" in this 2011 draft.

No offense, but I doubt having either one of them would have made SF a SB team in the last decade.

Ownership aside, the 49ers have a lot of other issues that have prevented them from being a good team. They play in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL and they still can't seem to get it together. As a Redskins fan, I see a lot of similarities between both teams and it makes me sad to know that neither franchise may ever return to its former glory days.

There are 30 other teams who are saying the same thing. Sometimes it's better to be lucky, like NE was. Even they admitted they didn't know Brady would turn out that good

The ownership for the 9ers sucks. At least with Al davis, his senility means you don't know what you are going to get. With the 9ers, you no they wont make the right move.

This was a bummer in two ways. Poor Aaron had to sit on the bench all those years watching Favre.

After Walsh, the Niners appeared to have serious trouble gauging and recognizing true talent. They couldn't tell Tom Brady from Greg Brady (Brady Bunch) or Aaron Rodgers from Fred Rogers (Mister Rogers).

It is yet to be seen if this has improved with the new moves.

th

I'd have to concur with you on this...the organization's revolving door on coaches, particularly offensive coordinators and its shifting strategy, would not have made either Rodgers or Brady successful with the Niners.

The Packers and the Pats have had pretty good management in the last several seasons...and that has made them successful, other than having good players.

Yeah, the Skins have really suffered under Snyder, what a jerk. I lived in DC when Doug Williams led them to the SB and beat the Broncos in a big comeback. What a difference.
