Unless, as has been pointed out many times: you are under 40, or part of the lower classes, you like rap music, and/or are a rapper, or are some combination of those. Plenty of SF natives say "Frisco", especially if they fall into those groups, and the name being widely hated is more of a myth than anything (you can thank the locally infamous SF Chronicle columnist Herb Caen for pushing the "frisco" hate on everyone). Most residents probably don't care one way or another, and aside from some old people and snobby SF elitists, it actually seems to most often be know-it-all transplants who get all worked up about the term "frisco".

It's still The City up here. NEVER Frisco. "The Fran" is a joke, or the poster has a hearing impairment.

It would be nice if we had some quick, accepted little moniker like "L.A.". The City only works in the Bay Area (for the most part).

Aside from the fact that san franciscans don't like it being called anything other than san francisco... i'll go ahead and answer the question and i'd have to say i prefer frisco even though the fran is pretty original too cuz ive never heard that one before

it doesn't flow the same way in my opinion. SF is a pretty harsh choppy abbreviation... LA just flows
