Hello. My husband and I are fortunate (I think) to have several options to choose from as far as moving from San Diego to be closer to family.
One option is Illinois: My entire family lives there with little nephews and a niece
and Im very, very close to my family
Good school district in the suburbs
Weather and lower salaries are the cons but the standard of
living is definitely lower there than CA.

2nd option is El Cerrito in the east bay. We already have a rental waiting for us there. My hubby's sister lives in Berkeley with her family (they have 2 little boys).

I've heard countless times how much the bay area nurses earn but never had solid numbers to calculate my finances with. My husband is a respiratory therapist and the pay is pretty dismal here in SD.

I'd like to find an OR nurse job in an ambulatory setting so I won't have to take call (which is what I'm doing now). Can anyone please give me any leads as far as good employer choices? Prefer not to go to SF, just the east bay but within 30 min of el Cerrito.

Is el Cerrito in a good school district? My son will start kindergarten next yr and when we visited last month, all I saw were private schools which I know will cost me an arm and 2 legs. didn't get to google that part.

I'm sorry this is lengthy but just want to give what I hope is pertinent info. Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read this and for your response.

I'm a surgical tech also looking for recommendations for good hospitals to work at in the Bay Area.

I'm in Alameda, I'm willing to work in the east bay or SF.
