I'm a retired senior lady thinking of renting a condo or townhouse in Sausalito and would like to hear from locals regarding a few questions I have

Could I expect to rent a nice condo or townhouse for under $1200 a month?

Where's the nearest fitness center with an indoor pool?

ANYTHING you can tell me about living in Sausalito would be appreciated

You would need to at least double your rent budget for a nice condo or townhouse. Check Craigslist bay area sub north bay for lots of rentals in Sausalito. Marin County is the highest income county in California and the fourth highest income county in the entire US, so housing prices reflect the beauty of the area, proximity to San Francisco, and the ability of the residents to pay high rents/prices. Under $1200/month would be tough in most nice inner Bay Area neighborhoods for a townhouse.

The closest indoor pool to Sausalito is the Mill Valley Community Center, but I'm not sure it is open to non-residents of the Mill Valley postal code. The Tamalpais High School pool (Mill Valley outside) is open year round for adult swim early in the AM and in the evening through the community education program. Several miles north on 101 in Corte Madera is the Bay Club, a pricey fitness center that has an indoor pool.

Sausalito has a shopping area for locals on Caledonia. The Bridgeway area caters to tourists.
