Hello,
My husband got a job offer with Google in Mountain View, and we might be moving from Vancouver, Canada. We have a toddler and would be looking to rent a nice 3 or 2+den bedroom apartment or townhome for around $2000-$3000. We are looking for: nice safe neighbourhood with young families, walkable, with a park/playground, preferably somewhere where I wouldn't need to drive just to grab a coffee or take the kids to the park.
Can someone suggest good neighbourhoods - we looked at mountain view, palo alto, sunnyvale, is any of these better/worse than the others, what other ones should we consider? And if anyone has any reviews of good apartment complexes, which ones are worth looking at? I was looking at Oak Creek Apartments, which seems nice tho a bit pricey. Or should we just look at by-owner? There doesn't seem to be much of a selection of those on craigslist, maybe other sites we can look at?
Thanks so much!

There is a San Jose board...we seem to be getting a lot of topics about Silicon Valley on the SF board that should be on the SJ board, you'll find a lot more Silicon Valley people there and they will have a better idea about advice to give ya.
