WOW.

Adding to the growing bitterness of the A's fans, is a news report that surfaced in The Modesto Bee.

Supermarket mogul Bob Piccinini attempted to purchase the A's in the early 2000s; however, he argues his attempts were blocked by the San Francisco Giants, who—he claims—urged Selig and MLB not to allow his purchase of the club.

Piccinini hinted at collusion between the Giants and MLB to essentially run the A's out of the Bay Area.

Piccinini backs his claim with statements from Giants executives who he knew, in addition to Selig's comments that allowing the A's to move to Oakland was a "mistake." There is, however, no hard evidence to prove such a claim.

What do you expect? San Francisco's begrudged Oakland of having anything for a long, long time.

This really doesn't help my hatred for the Giants, haha. Maybe some A's fans will wise up and stop supporting and rooting for this organization because they're "Bay Area baseball fans".

Considering the stink they are making about the A's possible move to the South Bay, it doesn't surprise me that they would be like this at all. Seriously, how greedy can they get? The Giants are already a much richer and more profitable team, they don't need Oakland's fans at all for anything. Especially now after they pretty much have gotten everyone except for the real, hardcore A's fans to jump on their bandwagon.

Me and my brother are taking my Dad to this Sunday's Battle of the Bay game. GO A's! Unfortunately my brother is a Giants fan though.

I watched something on HBO about this a while back. It basically spoke of how SF views Oakland and it's teams (it included the Raider's too) and the east bay in general for that matter.

I always thought it was strange that Oakland out of all places is the only city on the West Coast with a basketball, football, and baseball team, but the A's should stay in Oakland with all of the history they have there.
