Damn I hate hot weather. Of course now when I really want it my AC can't keep up. It has been running all day and hasn't gone below 85° in the coolest part of the house. The air coming out of the vents feels about as warm as when the heater is on during the winter.

This blows.

Actually I think it doesn't blow. My guess would be that your system needs a recharge and the heat exchange coils on the condenser outside need to be cleaned. Your AC should be at about 55-59 degrees. Stick a digital meat thermometer in your vent to check the temp coming out.

We'll see what they say the problem is when they come out tomorrow. We had the AC serviced in March it was cleaned and the fan replaced. I went out there this afternoon and checked to make sure the fan was working and cleaned the fins but it was still really clean.

In the meantime I bought a bunch of fans and we're at 90° and dropping. Still considering sleeping outside at this point.

Are you still melting? Unless you live way inland chances are, no.

Bayside highs ought to top out in the low - mid 70s today. Inland is supposed to be in the 80s, maybe the odd low 90s in the hottest spots. By tomorrow it will all be a memory even well inland.

After this series of dry cold fronts there may actually be a little rain mid next week. The models are indicating that a robust long wave trough, considering the time of year, will fill in from Alaska / Yukon and may result in a closed low, trailing cold fronts. The NWS is now forecasting a 10% chance of rain for Wednesday. It was 0% yesterday so the trend in the models seems to be moving toward more moisture and a higher probability of precip.

Sort of unreal to be contemplating the possibility of something like this happening after the Solstice, just a couple days before 4th of July weekend.
