Default Mill Valley

I think Mill Valley is pretty much entirely family friendly, including Strawberry. The only concern i would have in moving there would be traffic (I hear getting into and out of downtown area during commute hours is slow), and weekend traffic from people going to Tam and Muir Woods etc.

Other things to consider are do you want a bay view or redwoods around your house, hilly or flat, older or newer construction, bus commute to SF (different routes from MV and Strawberry), city limits of MV or just the postal/school district area, you get the idea. Lots of factors to consider. Overall, MV is family friendly although the majority of residents have no children at home for whatever reason. The neighborhoods for the most part are hilly and not built with wide streets and sidewalks. Check out Sycamore Park or Tam Valley if you want flat terrain with neighborhood elementary schools.

Mill Valley is pretty much entirely family friendly. Strawberry is very nice, as is downtown. I guess it all depends on where you want to live, home or apartment rental? I rented an apartment on Roque Moraes Drive about 1 mile from the 101 on ramp towards downtown, and our neighbors were almost entirely people in their 50s and 60s (in apartments). Older than my husband and I in our late 20s, but nice and quiet. Its a very nice part of Marin and quite affluent. I would say its mostly older people and young families, so just about anywhere is quiet and appropriate to live with kids. Traffic can be bad at any time of day since people have money and there are lots of non-working residents around, and especially bad when there is an event in town (often in the summer). School drop offs and pick ups also cause some congestion. Downtown has a very cute square with great coffee shops and boutiques.
