Its not, btw.
But apparently it's OK for the 1% to drive into the crowd, at least the press won't cover it. They would rather be painting the Demonstrators as Commies, just like the Republicans did with the Bonus Army.

I believe we are seeing an [en]'counter' in the works -- for now.

They LAUGH at all this. They bought it (the country) already. LOOK at some 3rd world countries--do THEY (the "elite") care what population thinks or protests--THEY DON'T. That's why I can not blame demonstrators turning violent in attempt to deliver their message.
It's like thinking that a medieval feudal would care about his slaves peacefully protesting carrying signs, ahahaha....

I do agree that many super rich people feel that way, but not all.

I submit that, while it is simple to use the words "money" and "wealthy" as identifiers, what we are all really needing to focus on is psychopathy / sociopathy. The two conditions are essentially the same in effect on society, but psychopaths are born without the ability to feel empathetic and sympathetic emotion ... sociopaths become the same through negative conditioning. Psychopaths have always existed, and it is just an anomaly of our species. Sociopathy, once established in a person, appears to be impossible to turn around. However, sociopathy is preventable.

I raise the above issue and distinction because, while there are many non-psycho/sociopathic among the top 1% and 10%, many truly fine, caring, and generous individuals -- much of the out-of-control, irresponsible greed that is ruining world economies and societies, is socio-psychopathic based behavior. And the culture of this behavior is supported by our consumer-capitalist social model. Our lives are oriented to glorification of the "rewards" of wealth -- as opposed to the more intangible goals of health and richness of spirit.

The answer to this isn't communism or socialism or fascist nationalism, etc. The answer lies in a fundamental shift away from valuing material acquisitions and educational status as social goals. As long as we value a doctor or lawyer, banker or politician more than a farmer or janitor or truck driver we demean the base for a healthy society. The base is always larger than the top of structures ... the base is the foundation for strength. And wealth is not required for happiness and health.

As it is, we prepare and nurture a fertile field for psychopathic / sociopathic success.

What you are saying is, frankly, nuts. Another combat veteran here. First of all, Olsen would never have been labeled a "baby-killer, murderer, or war-criminal" ... that pretty much is a myth from the Vietnam war era (my war) ... there was very little of that nonsense then, although the myth was intentionally set in motion to create an environment of that, it never really worked. And since the failure of our society to support its troops in Vietnam has become a national shame and disgrace, our military have been overwhelmingly embraced for what they sacrifice. So: bullsh*t on that comment.

As for standing down when you are told -- well, uh, that's kinda the point of protest isn't it? To stand UP when being told to stand down. If we all just stood down like sheep when told, what would be the leverage against injustice?

Nah. If anything, California is pretty much a leader in social change ... always has been. One of the main reasons I love it so.

If you have never had a homeless person bang on the hood of your car, you don't live in the city. This 1%er chose to drive into the demonstration and then chose to gun his engine into people who had nothing to do with his wax job. At least two were hospitalized yet the3 Police did nothing.

I almost bought one of those condos a block up from SCOTT OLSEN PLAZA, I wish I had. I could be there and not worry about sleeping there. I miss Ying Kee Noodle too

This still doesnt answer the question at all.

Is it acceptable to stand in front of someone's car while they are legally driving it in the street and bang on their hood without provocation?

Either it acceptable or its not. I dont see what's so complicated.

And I live in Oakland.
