just wondering if there is any in San Francisco. If there isn't what are some cool coffee shops that stay open past midnight? Or are there none? I hate having to go from one coffee shop to the next because they're always closing and the latest I've found is one on Valencia in the Mission that closes at Midnight, if I'm not mistaken... or is it 11pm?

you know, sometimes I just don't feel like going home, soooo I'd like to stick around at some coffee shop past my bedtime. It be even nicer to know if there are some coffee shops that even sell beer or cocktail drinks (that don't necessarily stay opened past midnight)! Thanks in advance!

There's a Denny's in Japantown...

Honestly SF gets pretty quiet by around 10pm, not much other than bars and nightclubs are open past that until 2AM. Quite a few cafes serve beer, though cocktails would be rarer...go to a bar or cocktail lounge for that.

not what i was expecting to hear..... huge bummer. no thanks to denny's. and i'm not necessarily interested in beer or going to a cocktail bar, it just would be nice if san francisco had a coffee shop with a bar menu as well. i like to do my work while drinking a beer sometimes and i don't think denny's, a bar, or cocktail lounge would be good for that. but thanks for letting me know though... now i don't have to keep searching out there like a silly idiot to no avail.

There are several branches of "The Grove" around the city, which are exactly what you describe: comfy, hangout coffee/sandwich shops that serve beer and wine, too. But they close at like... 11pm.

It hasn't been Denny's for a few years. Now it's "New Minny's."

There are a bunch of restaurants in the Richmond district that are open until 1 or 2. Especially on Clement St. in the Inner Richmond between 2nd & 8th. Also, Korean Village on 10th & Geary is open until 4 I think.

There's a 24 hour Starbucks on California & Spruce. (They're just closed on Monday from 1-4 AM for cleaning.)

That explains why I didn't see any Denny's there.

Good to know about the Starbucks. Because you never know when I might have trouble sleeping and need, um, more coffee.

There is a place on Geary near Masonic called the Lucky Penny that is an all nighter. I picked up some friends from SFO late last year. We went to a jazz bar and they were very hungry so we just happend upon this place around 2 or 3 AM.

Here are some others that I found that are 24 hour diners.

Sparky's 24 Hours Diner: 242 Church Street, San Francisco, CA 94114 : We accept orders online.

Lori's Diner - Home (http://www.lorisdiner.com/home.html - broken link)

Pinecrest Diner - The Food Makers - San Francisco, CA

Orphan Andy's @ Market St and Castro

Cafe Mason

This place has music shows and sells food and liquor.
