I have a few gallons of water and a bunch of clif bars. I know after the Chile quake water was shut off for several days, that would be a pain in the ass.

Im not affiliated in any way, shape of form to this place, but if anyone is looking to put together an emergency survival kit or purchase a pre-made one, here is a terrific place in Downtown Oakland that can help you.

I was in Oakland today in Laker Merritt and I felt the first one. I got home in SF and my friend in Oakland told me about the second one. funny thing though... i was in school earlier today and we did the "the great california quake" drill and then when i went to oakland earlier today we were talking about earthquakes. 2 hours later it happened. crazy how things work.

Check with the Red Cross for earthquake kits...the Red Cross does so much all over the planet...give back however you can but especially by rolling up your sleeves and donating blood!

Wear a whistle around your neck so if the building collapses the rescue team can locate you.

I was at work when the first one hit. Sounded like two booms a fraction of a second before the shaking started. I work at Jack London Square. Didn't think it felt like a 4, seemed weaker to me.

The one later did feel like a 4. It hit like a hammer. I was at home in the Grand Lake area.

Another bump in the night in the same Berkeley fault area at 5:30AM...I eventually fell back to sleep but I'm still all tired from getting woken up like that.

The one this morning happened about 2 minutes after my alarm clock went off. I guess God's getting sick of me hitting the snooze button all the time.
