Hello,

I'm looking for hiking and walking trails on the Peninsula where we can walk our two dogs. I'm not interested in small dog parks or beaches. I checked on dogfriendly.com, and the only dog-friendly Peninsula parks listed are:

Pacifica State Beach -Highway 1 Pacifica
Palo Alto Baylands Preserve -San Antonio Road Palo Alto
Stanford University -Palm Drive Palo Alto
Butano State Park -Highway 1 Pescadero
Windy Hill Preserve -Hwys 84 and 35 Portola Valley
Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve -Edmonds Road Redwood

It looks like parts of the Bay Trail are off-limits to dogs as well.

Every time I find a great park, I learn that dogs are prohibited. With all the beautiful parks and preserves in the area, are these the only ones that allow dogs? What's up with that?

Thanks for your help!

Dogs attack people (causing liability issues) and poop everywhere. You might be a good dog owner but it's other people ruining it for everyone.

I'm pretty sure Fort Funston allows dogs, it's in SW SF though.

Ft Funston is Disneyland for dogs. In the Peninsula, try Water Dog Lake in Belmont.
