I was considering a position in Walnut Creek, thinking it was reverse commute from my house in South Fremont. We live close to 680, which certainly helps.

My friend told me there is morning NB traffic from 580 to Walnut Creek - yikes, I hadn't considered that! Is it really bad?

I might consider BART as the potential job would be near Walnut Creek BART, but I'm not sure if that will work out with the kid's drop-offs and pick-ups.

Any experience with this commute?

Actually that's one long distance commute that is really not bad trafficwise and that's great considering traffic on the opposite direction is terrible for pretty much the entire drive.

As far as the evenings, 680 from Walnut Creek down through San Ramon can be heavy but bearable.

Once you pass 580/680 in Dublin, it should be smooth sailing all the way to Fremont.

Thanks! That's what I thought. It's all relative but it sounds like there is a fair amount of traffic from 580 jn. to WC, so I will try the commute on a Tuesday sometime to check it out.

I used to commute from Fremont to Martinez, and it was smooth sailing before 8 AM, can't comment after that though. Oddly, it backs up in the evening especially around Alamo, between 5 and 6 but unless there's an accident it's pretty bearable.
