Shouldn't be surprising. The notion that liberals are against capitalism is one conservatives concocted, not a fact by any means.

when you turn on the hate-o-meter, conservatives and the GOP hate two American cities above all others: San Francisco and Chicago. No two would they rather sever off from the union.

Having a stronger sense of promoting business isn't right-wing, it's just more reasonable. Being more progressive merely for the sake of it wasn't working out.

San Francisco is no free-market haven. Its the still the typical over-regulated liberal city.

Just because to repeal a few anti-business laws such as the payroll tax, does'nt mean its now a laissez-faire, pro-business playground.

One has no idea how progressive SF is until significant time is spent visiting many midwest and southern municipalities, followed by a return drive west, ending at the City. A whole new dimension.

If you spend much time in the Midwest or South (or the NYC area I suppose) you come back to the Bay Area impressed at how little political corruption there is here. We never get anything done but at least we're not constantly sending politicians to jail for massive embezzlement...and we don't tolerate obviously corrupt autocrats like Richie Daley for 20 years at a stretch. I'm sure some whiny neocons will cry about how corrupt Bay Area "libs" are simply because they disagree with them, but there is a looooooooooot of local political corruption in other states (and in Southern CA) that doesn't seem to affect the Bay Area very often.

Not sure where I implied anything of the sort.

If that's the case...you gotta admit they are usually for it to a significantly lesser degree than the conservatives.

Boss Hogg was an upstanding gentleman of exemplary character. Any man, woman or child residing in Hazzard County was proud to call him a neighbor.
