Relocating to CA because my wife got a new job in Concord. We're considering renting a house in El Cerrito. On Google Maps, the commute time looks good (under 45 minutes), but I'm wondering if that's accurate with traffic.

Is the commute between El Cerrito and Concord reasonable (say, under an hour)?

Thanks!

An hour each way is a good amount of time to allot for that commute but it should take about half an hour or so.

Take 80 East to Hy 4 East, traffic should be light most of the time until you get to 680 but by then your already close to Concord and it shouldnt be too bad.

Also, Hercules is much closer to Concord and is nice as well. Just something to consider.

There are a lot of nice areas in the Bay Area. Not sure why El Cerrito has to be it. (Now, that's not a diss, as one of my best friends lives there.) However, there are a lot of options, so I would explore them if I were you.

With that said, you can go up the 80 to the 4. I've taken that route when I've driven from there to my friend's place in Antioch. It's actually pretty fast.

I don't see that route causing any problems. Once in a while a big accident or something will happen by the golf course and close 4, but even if that happens, you can use the Cummings Skyway.
