Big Al's is going out of business and is being replaced by a Deli. Anyone know if they are preserving the iconic sign.

Big Al's - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think it might have landmark status.

Do you know if they took it down? San Francisco is known for its historic preservation but it seems that it only applies to buildings and not signage.

Good News. They are preserving the signage and calling it "Big Al's Deli."

I really hope this is more of a NYC type of deli. North Beach has enough Italian Deli's already. Easy to find a good salame sandwich but tough to find a good Pastrami. I normally trek it over to Miller's on Polk.
