I'm interviewing in S.F. and need some guidance. I'm assuming that the city itself is too expensive for most people to live in. Where do commuters live that is safe, and what is the commute like (probably on public transportation)? If you have info, what are the rents like in these areas for a one-bedroom? I'm moving from the Northeast. Any info is welcome. Thanks!

This entire board is 90% devoted to answering that specific question.
Maybe you could do a little research and come back with specific questions?

And perhaps be a bit more detailed on the type of area you would like?

Yes, this is a common question!! Most anywhere along the BART line in the east bay or along the Caltrain line on the peninsula south of SF. Need to know where in SF you will be working. A 1 bedroom will run about $1500, give or take.
