My friend and I are planning to visit San Francisco since she attended SFSU and she want to go back and visit. Can anybody tell me what a hotel would cost me in downtown San Francisco or at least near the downtown area for one night? Any help would be great and is there anything in San Francisco that is worth seeing that isnt really mentioned or heard of?

There's a huge price range for rooms in San Francisco. You can get a room from $100 up into the thousands per night. If you're on a budget I would check out some of the hotel sites like Yahoo's Farechase or Expedia for the time period you'll be here.

Yeah, I checked prices. I plan to spend as much as $250. Enough about the hotels, my other question was: Is there anything in San Francisco that isnt heard of or mentioned as much that is worth visiting?

Try the Grant Hotel
I like to stay at the Grant Hotel on Nob Hill. You can usually book it on Travelocity, Venere, or Hotel Club among many other popular hotel booking search engines. It usually costs between $60-$100 depending on time of year and days you are staying. It is an older hotel, but it is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The amenities are basic though. The location can't be beat. It is close enough to walk to nearly all major areas.
