The area south of 880 around Hegenberger isn't garbage at all. There's not much going on but "garbage" definitely doesn't apply.

The hate for Oakland on this forum is ridiculous.

i've been to a million warriors games and im originally from SF, now live in the east bay.

its always stressful after warriors games taking bart home.. esp if you leave early and not with the crowd as they're exiting. you always get shady looking characters on that overpass to the bart station, then again @ the station itself and on bart. terrible area. all dark and gloomy. move to SF.
That seems fair ... the Warriors have great attendance because the people are not from Oakland and the A's have terrible attendance because the fans are from Oakland.

And I have a solution for you about seeing all the "shady looking characters": don't leave the game early. Problem solved.

Shady looking characters. LOL you mean black people? I guess you've never been to a 49ers game, you'd probably have a heart attack. Oh wait the 49ers play in San Francisco, there is absolutely nothing bad happening there. Not even in Bay View.

The rising salary costs and the demand from fans for a complete 'stadium experience' means that teams have to cater to the high rollers, not the average fan.

It's true in every sport now, and it's unfortunately gutting the core fan base - teams are going to find themselves in trouble in a few years from the next generation of fans hasn't been created. We used to go to baseball and hockey games all the time, because they were a cheap family outing. My kids'll be lucky to go one game a year the way prices are looking now.

Nosebleed seats at a Warriors game are like $30. If seats aren't being sold then it's not very surprising to me.

The area around the Coliseum/Arena sucks but you sound easily scared honestly. Grow a pair, it's not that bad to where your safety is in danger.
lmao@ "draw a crowd going simply because its something fun'
as if ppl show up to warrior games for anything other than "a great time out". nobody shows up expecting a victory. its just something to do for 2 hours. warriors fans have accepted garbage for years, was glad to see them lose their sht this year.

maybe you think the area around the coliseum isn't bad.. and that may be because u grew up in abject poverty or in a housing project and seeing crackheads and bums is normal. nobody wants to be subjected to that crap or be around sub human scum. that'd why the giants get more ppl in the stands than the A's. A's can win 66 straight ws titles and ppl still wont show up to that ghetto ass turd heap the Oakland coliseum is on

The warriors have probably reached their max audience without a new stadium and winning season. But the are still at the top of the league for attendance. Even with crappy prices and crappy basketball.

The fans that go seem very passionate about the team overall, more so than one would expect given how bad they are and have been. I don't think an arena in SF will draw nearly as many as those types of fans.

I never said the area around the Colsieum wasn't bad, just saying if you actually feel endangered by walking to BART from a game then you're kind of a pansy IMO. Downtown SF near the Civic Center and Tenderloin feels just as creepy if not worse. I grew up in Walnut Creek btw, you said you were from SF so I'm surprised that someone who apparently grew up in an urban environment in a city full of crazy homeless would be so fazed by the bridge to BART.
