I'm considering a move out to the Bay Area from the Midwest. Does anyone have an idea as to what the job market looks like for finance/accounting right now? I'm a CPA with 2 years Big 4 audit experience and 2+ years doing Internal Audit at a Fortune 500 services company. I'd prefer to continue doing Internal Audit, but would be open to FP&A work as well. It definitely looks like there are openings in the area, but I'd appreciate insight as the whether there's enough opportunity in the market to be worth taking a closer look. Thanks!

Default accounting/finance

In general the job market in the bay area right now is not great, but is getting better. With Big 4 experience you should be able to find a job fairly easily, but probably not in internal audit, as a lot of companies just don't have internal audit departments. I've found the majority of jobs are in Silicon Valley as opposed to San Francisco (I'm a CPA as well). Also I've found the most success finding a job by using a recruiter - just find a good one, a lot of them are really flaky.

The cooler, can you recommend few of good known recruiters and the ones you should avoid (flaky). My gf is also coming to SV area soon, and we are planning some kinda of job for her. She has 4-5 yrs of experience as a financial analyst but has no big4 experience and pursuing CPA currently. Thanks!

The job market in accounting is going strong at least for entry-level.
