FYI: Oakland has a lot of rich people. And they like to live in lovely and vibrant neighborhoods like Rockridge. DUH.

Rockridge is one of the higher end areas of Oakland. Good schools, low crime, and unique independent shops and restaurants on Broadway give Rockridge a unique charm, and desirability. Rockridge isn't like "Coliseum Oakland", or "Seminary Oakland", which tend to have dirt cheap homes (by Bay Area standards).

Broadway isn't the main street of Rockridge. It is College Ave.

You know I actually thought I did type College, and typed out Broadway. Brain fart.

Here's my vote for another one of the most idiotic posts of the year.

Who told you homes weren't expensive in Oakland? And North Oakland especially is a nice and high-end neighborhood. Proximity to the University, plus that pleasant and thriving little shopping district push up the cost. Up in the hilly part off Chabot road, in the Berkeley/Oakland hills are some of Oakland's most expensive properties.

Try Emeryville if you're looking for more affordable living in the Berkeley area.
