I will be taking a position in the Financial District, I've already been out 4 times in the past month for work ant to scout around the city. Single male 32, will be earning Low/Mid Six Figures (Around 420K). Would like a Nice Condo in San Francisco to rent, please don't suggest Oakland. I will not live in Oakland. Condo must be modern, I was referred to the Rincon tower but that thing is atrocious and is very New Wave Brooklyn Ugly. I don't know how long I will last out there due to the fact it's not exactly a fun city. However I'm getting an OK raise to relocate and will give it a shot, If I don't like it after 6 months I can go back to Manhattan.

These might work:

SF bay area apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist

In the Marina, you'll be surrounded by like-minded people, all doing their best to ignore the fact that San Francisco is so un-fun.

Manhattan Prices in San Fran? Don't think so. I'm looking to pay around $4500-$5000 nothing higher.

I got the perfect area for you, you'll love it. No Manhattan-like prices either!

Pretty sure it was a joke.

If you're looking to live in a new-ish condo, you basically have the Financial District, SOMA, Mission Bay, Potrero Hill as the places where these have been built in the SF city limits.

www.padmapper.com will help you map out available apartments better than just looking at a static list on craigslist.

mod cut I would NEVER move there. Ok. Done. So is Craigslist reliable out here because In New York it's all sheister slum lords and crooks.

Yes, Craigslist is pretty reliable here -- SF is its hometown, after all. The locals are vigilant about flagging obvious scams for deletion.

It might help if you were to tell us what level of excitement you require, so that we can avoid recommending any more "boring" parts of town.

You might want to tone the atty-tude down, this is a very different city than NYC and unless you learn to go with the flow you're going to be pretty miserable.

No one said anything about Oakland. So far all of the places recommended are areas of SF. You might want to learn the names of the neighborhoods in SF before jumping down people's throats.

Thanks for those who were helpful. Good info there. Now as for my "attitude". What attitude? I was reading around here and you all seem to recommend Oakland all the time. I wanted to be clear up front and let you know I'm not wanting to go there. So that kills any voicing of that town. Now, as far as San Fran, is there anywhere that's like the Meat Packing district? I see people out there don't like to go out and dress up at nights. I'm looking for a place with less affliction and more upscale cocktail dress wearing women where a guy can wear a nice suit.
