We are evaluating a move from the Washington, DC area to Marin County. We are a family of 4, including a 9th grader and a 7th grader. We are looking for a home in the Redwood High School district, preferably with 4 bedrooms/2 baths. We will pay up to $1.4M for a home. We've narrowed it down to the cities of Larkspur, Corte Madera, Kentfield and Greenbrea. We like to get involved in our community, church, and schools. Since much of our research has to be done online right now, can you recommend specific communities within any of these cities?

You might find the portion of Corte Madera east of the 101 to be just a little less desirable than the other areas you mentioned. (If memory serves, and it might not.) You also can get bad neighbors anywhere. With that warning aside, though, I doubt you can go wrong in any of the burgs you mention.

I strongly suggest that you invest in a working research holiday in Marin, so you can see the candidate neighborhoods for yourself.

Have you looked at Mill Valley? Utterly delightful, great for raising kids.

While Mill Valley is indeed a good place to raise children, it is not in the Redwood High School feeder area, as requested by the OP. Students attend Tamalpais HS, which is also a good school.

The OP also mentioned wanting to be active in church. Many people in Marin worship at the church of brunch or hiking on Sundays. A small percentage of the population attends regular church services, only 7.1%, less than half the average for counties of 60,000 or more population in California.
