We have an early flight out of SFO, and would like to spend the night at a hotel by the airport. We're looking for cheap and convenient. Amenities don't matter, as all we'll be doing is sleeping. Any recommendations?

San Francisco Airport SFO Hotels

There are also many motels in Millbrae along El Camino Real (Hwy 82) near the airport. Some have shuttles to the airport.

We do that all the time. The Travel Lodge has worked out well for us.

I usually bid on Priceline or Hotwire when I don't care which airport hotel I stay at.

There are also several airport hotels along the Old Bayshore Highway in Burlingame that have a view of the bay and certainly do have shuttles to the airport. As an added bonus, you can take the 297 bus to San Francisco and back all day long, and BART is close by as well.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if some hotels were to be avoided (especially since we're going for cheap), or if some locations advertising themselves as "airport" were all that close -- my knowledge of that area is a little fuzzy, and when I did a hotel.com search it was pulling up stuff as far away as Redwood City. I'll search online for deals and see what I can find in the locations suggested (including the Travel Lodge). Not sure if the shuttles will be running at that hour, but if not, a short cab ride is fine.

If you take one along the 292 route (I misspoke about the 297 earlier, that's an owl), you can take that bus to the SFO terminals in a pinch to save a few bucks on the cab. That would open up options as far away as southern San Mateo.

The shuttle schedule is pretty much all night. We do it for the free parking while we're away.
