Elementary school in Tiburon was superb. We're thinking of moving back to Tiburon. My daughter also wants to move back. She loved the school and the help they provided with any areas she struggled in academically. It will be for either 7th or 8th grade in 1 or 2 years. I'm disappointed that Tiburon doesn't have a high school. My child needs patient and professional/caring teachers like they have in Tiburon. They are very effective teachers and a great curriculum. It was a top notch education from our experience.

If we move back to Tiburon, will Tamalpais in Mill Valley be a good high school???

Many of the public high schools are good in Marin County. Even though I am not too familiar with Marin County's schools, Tamalpais High School has some students that come from the housing project community of Marin City. 2Pac went to Tamalpais. Many of them can be very good students and good people, but there will be some people coming from an urban, low-income community that may affect the high school in some way. But I hope that does not steer you away, because most of the Marin County public schools are very good, especially within Mill Valley, Tiburon, and the surrounding area. I'd say they are much better than the schools of Sonoma County.

I understood that Tiburon is in the Redwood H.S. district. Tamalpais has as somewhat "iffy" reputation within Marin .... by that I mean not as good as Redwood, Drake, or Terra Linda. There is online information available about how the various schools perform academically in standardized testing.

Default Will Redwood High school be as good as Tiburon schls

Thanks for your responses. I just called Reed Union District and they confirmed that Tiburon students actually go to Redwood High School.
So I'll edit or re-post: Will Redwood High School be a good school like Tiburon schools are???

It's a big decision. We love Tiburon. I want her to go to a school where the staff and Principal on top of things and teach efficiently and with caring and professionalism.

I think the word on the street about Redwood is that it is a high-pressure environment with excellent academics. It also has a reputation for a lot of drug use.

All of the marin teens seem to have drug issues, there is even a book about it sadly.
