As opposed to every other day(s) down there, which are always yet another Carmageddon event.

I know... I'm really sad I'm missing it, but this motorcycle ride takes place every year during Columbus Day weekend and it's particularly early this year.

There's also the start of Litquake (5th-16th).

It's, uh, interesting having the Blue Angels practicing overhead.

Yeah, thank goodness I will be out of town.

I don't recommend anyone drive their car in the city this weekend unless you are a masochist. Here is a link to an article with maps of transit options to get around.

This being California however, I'm sure there will be plenty of people who will still choose to drive their cars into the city, and then curse SF when they can't find parking

That distant grinding sound you will hear will be the collective teeth of those stuck on 19th all weekend.

I always hated having the Blue Angels practicing maneuvers 50 feet above my apartment building for a week straight before the big Fleet Week weekend.

For those who might want to escape the SF madness, there's the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in San Jose this weekend:

I think as you avoid certain areas its fine - of course I live in Hawaii and our traffic is horrendous.

Went to Crissy Field yesterday around 11am and got excellent parking... traffic wasn't bad at all. But I guess that opinion is relative.
