Do you think there will be traffic driving to LA the monday morning after Thanksgiving. Was considering doing it, but then my Mom said it will still be bad even on monday?! Thank

It will be bad, many (including myself) "wait" until Monday to depart. Tuesday will be better, Sunday after will be awful. I found Saturday night or Friday night to be the better driving days, but most people don't want to leave "early". It's a tradeoff, leave early or get stuck in bad traffic on I-5.

That's a smart idea! $30 is not much compared to the stress you'll be able to avoid.
The way gas has been going up, flying may be cheaper come Thanksgiving weekend!
