My husband is going to be working at SFO. How would the commute from Sausalito be? And how much is the toll on the bridge? I've been researrching the area and it seems really nice.

That wouldn't be a great commute - I'd estimate around 50-60 minutes, at the least (during rush-hour). The toll on Golden Gate Bridge is now $5... yes, FIVE dollars! Though if you get a FasTrak pass (FasTrakĀ® - Keeping the Bay Area Moving) it's only $4, and you get to use the FasTrak lane. I have one, and it helps a little bit, unless the traffic is backed up beyond where the lanes split.

If I were you, I'd consider living on the north Peninsula or southern parts of San Francisco, even though Sausalito is a beautiful town. JMO!

he'd be going clear across SF and the GG bridge every day - that's a haul. Something closer to SFO might be fine - trying to think of the closest nice place.

Thanks guys-that is just the info. that I was looking for. Neither of us are in to big commutes. I just fell in love with the town when I saw it online. While I'd also like to live right in the city, we have a dog and 2 cars that we need to hang on to so I don't think it wil work. I'm now leaning towards Pacifica. Thanks again and I'd love to hear more opinions!

I used to live in Pacifica, and it's a great little town! Easy commute to SFO too... just hop on hwy. 1 (or 35, depending on where you live), connect to 280 & 380, and you're there - 15 minutes tops, especially since those are less-traveled freeways. Do a forum search on Pacifica, and you should find more detailed posts of mine.
