You can still turn in bottles and cans to get your CRV back, just not at the store. You take them to a recycling center and they redeem it in bulk by weight.

No, now I'm getting my bags in either Marin, where I work, or when I go out to Contra Costa County. And, of course, I continue to receive heavy duty cardboard boxes every few days containing everyday things I used to buy at local stores .... Guess our local Walgreens employees will be able to find jobs at the Amazon distribution center ... pushing San Francisco yet further toward a yuppie haven.

Exactly! So if I find myself going through the area, they are going to get my business!

No extra time/mileage... I have to go at least once a week to Pleasant Hill...

Now, I just make it a point to do my shopping too... Lunardi's or Safeway.

Sad that all the markets near my home in East Oakland closed... Lucky and Safeway pulled the plug years ago.

Are there still non-charged bags in portions of Solano and Napa Counties?

Update...

So I was at the market today grocery shopping and noticed only some customers are being charged for paper grocery bags at checkout.

The store manager happened to be walking by as I was leaving so being inquisitive, I asked.

I learned the 10 cents per bag charge does not apply to customers with EBT cards and in fact EBT users, according the manager use more paper bags than non EBT users.

Nope...

Complaining that this "Mandatory" law has exemptions.

Does anyone else think the Nanny-state mentality has gone too far?
You're paying 3000 a month in rent. 10 cents is too much for you?
