Did you ever even visit Concord, CA? It seems not - Concord is extremely safe. Murder and home robberies? We live in the area since a few years and have hardly ever heard of such crimes...

No just drove through there. I lived in the Bay Area from 1967 to 2006 though.

[quote=newarrior;53052471]D+ rating on crime:

Checked the link and it looks like D+ is mainly made up by theft and car theft. Violent crime in Concord is lower than the average in California, and murder rate 0.8 per 100k people compared to 4.9 per 100k California average or 6.5 in San Francisco or 20 in Oakland.

In general, such stats can be quite misleading as high crime is often limited to a few neighborhoods (Oakland is a good example for that). After having visited many cities in the US I would say most parts of Concord are comparably safe also during the night

Crime is not limited to a few hoods in Oakland. That is a myth some try to sell folks on. But crime is evetywhere in SF/Oaktown.

True some of the stats are misleading....Regardless research on Google led me to believe the following in regards to Concord:
1) Lots of illegal immigrants
2) Lots of crime in general except murders
3) Lots of Latino gang activity
4) Lots of homelessness
5) The area(s) near Costco quite dangerous
6) Poor schools
7) Mostly a lower middle class working city
8) People feeling insafe in many areas due to perceived threat of crime

Thoughts ? Thanks !

Most of Concord's problems/crime issues are concentrated in two areas, mostly one though (Monument Corridor and to a lesser extent Solano Way area). Mostly solidly middle class and ranges from lower middle class to upper middle class though. Most of the city is fine and safe, I don't think most residents feel unsafe at all. More likely just in certain areas like any sizable city.

Ok? Did I suggest it wasn't? Traffic is horrible in pretty much every Bay Area city.
