My gf and I just relocated to CA from TX. I work in Sacramento/Folsom and her job ended up being in San Ramon area. We want to see if it's feasible to live together and the midpt between the 2 places seems to be Vacaville/Fairfield. How is the commute from there to San Ramon/Walnut creek area? We're open to leaving earlier hitting the road at 630am and leaving work at 630pm or something. Any ideas would help!

Thanks in advance!

If you don't mind at least a 60-90 min commute each way then yeah it's feasible.

Yeah. Like @sav858 said, it will be a bit of a commute but it would most likely take about an hour. I spent a summer working in Sacramento and living in San Francisco. I'd sometimes cut down the 680 rather than the 80. That would be her route to San Ramon. It's going to be a commute, for sure, but it can be done.

The worst part will be the stretch of 680 between 242 and 24 in the morning. The evenings will be worse, it can be gridlocked most of the way from San Ramon to Walnut Creek/Treat Blvd some days. Around 60 min most days, 90 on the worst days.

Thanks a lot for the input! How is the drive from Vacaville up until Concord in the mornings and evenings?

I drive from Pleasant Hill to Fairfield so I do see the traffic going the other way. It doesn't look that bad, not really any stop and go until 680/242 but some slow spots. I leave at 730 and most days it's flowing pretty well or at worst flowing a little slower but still flowing. I haven't noticed anything that bad in the evenings. I don't drive on Fridays though.
