You aint lying. Oakland has many amazing bargains compared to SF but its disheartening to many buyers I know that the inventory of homes for sale in Rockridge and Upper Rockridge is so low compared to all the pent up demand.

There are no affordable homes in safe areas in Oakland. I've looked. I'm not talking condos, single family homes will run close to 1 million in a safe area.

Yes Oakland is the only place where safe neighborhoods cost more. Not like SF where safe neighborhoods are really affordable, right? *rolls eyes*

Double standard much.

Haha...well it was u who said that Oakland's nicer areas cost more. Im not aware of any city where this isnt the.case and yet you single out Oakland. Care to explain that obvious double standard?

I havent gone on a foodie excursion in th city in a while-not because sf is lacking but because Oakland offers so much now that my calendar is full.

Sorry for any errors as im on a phone
I haven't been to Pican yet, or Ozumo next door.

However, I did go to Sweet Bar Bakery (which opened about a month ago) last weekend. It's on 24th and Broadway. It was busy.

It's in a prime location as it is a few doors down from the New Parkway Theater on 24th and next to the new addition to Broadway Grand. The new addition to Broadway Grand will be between 23rd and 24th on Broadway. Hub Oakland, Numi Tea, Drakes Brewing, Labna (yet another Chris Pastena owned restaurant) and an unnamed gym have already booked retail and office space.

Ozumo is a lot of fun, but just avoid it the night of the Art Murmur! It's packed and not a good packed.

Welcome to Oakland!

I would just reiterate that it's important when reading these threads to focus on information from people who actually live and/or work in Oakland. We are sensible of Oakland's risks, we know them best. I doubt that many of us would take a late night stroll down, say, 82nd Ave. But we know that Oakland, especially uptown Oakland, is not some dark crime laden doom machine where nothing happens but robbery and murder.

i said no safe area is affordable. You think 1 million is the norm? Not cost more, affordable. 1 million is not exactly affordable.
