It usually takes at least 20 years for pretty much any major transportation project to get completed, so I don't really get why you pretend that is unique to BART. Look at LA, a half CENTURY later they still don't have a subway to the sea.

Oakland Airport Connector will open in 2014. (maybe one day LAX will be on the level of the Oakland Airport and have a train connection)

The Warm Springs extension will open in 2015.

Silicon Valley Extension will open in 2018.

New train cars begin arriving in 2017.

Again, you seem to be completely clueless or in denial about BART extensions and improvements. Perhaps you don't live here and just don't hear about them on the news. Also you clearly don't understand what BART's capital shortfall means, it's not that they are broke or deep in debt at all. They are one of the most efficient transit systems in the country. This is a topic you clearly no nothing about so just stop already before you embarrass yourself further

All of those extensions, MAYBE by 2060. More than likely they won't be done by then and BART will still get tax payer money from the counties where it passes through. I bet you a bunch of BART managers will get a raise this year though.

You traveled the Altamont at 4:30am for 4 years?

What the hell are you talking about? All of those extensions are already under construction and have scheduled completion dates. I'm not sure what is so hard to understand, clearly this topic is over head. Again, you are really doing users of this site a disservice by constantly spreading lies and misinformation, please stop.

Clearly you don't live in the area or you would have seen how far along the OAC is.

Doc have you ever been a commuter? One might typically get up, shower and morning constitutional and listen to the traffic reports whilst getting ready for work...

It's not that hard to know what's going on on the freeways early in da mornin...

I guess we'll see. No point in arguing about it now.

Even when I wasn't retired, I used to commute at off peak hours for the most part. I at one point had 4 offices in the Bay Area alone so I learned when to commute, and when to have lunch so to speak.

I can tell you one thing, the Altamont was super busy at 4:30am the morning I was there.

So out of curiosity, I checked the traffic data for that stretch of highway (205/580 area when I was coming back from L.A). I could only find data for 5AM since that's the earliest that Google tracks and found this:

As you can see, there is some congestion even on Google's data.

So it wasn't an isolated incident when I saw the Altamont packed at 4:30am. I'm guessing TurboTalon doesn't know what he's talking about (which is why I tend to disregard most anecdotal stories of "I never saw that").
