I think SF is too expensive for most hipsters. I agree it's more yuppie. We lived in NYC from 2000-2005 and the flood of hipsters from Brooklyn was tremendous. Luckily they couldn't afford rent in NYC and stayed mainly in Williamsburg.

Hipsters are mostly from the middle/upper class, or so they say. Of course they like to pretend that they are not

Hipsters and Yuppies are very similar. Hipsters are moreorless a type of Yuppie.

there is but i know people who moved here from LA and are so happy because theres like million times less here then there is here

Maybe because LA is five times as large? As for hipsters being priced out of San Francisco, that's true. They live in Oakland and Berkeley now, too. More than half the people I know from college are so-called "hipsters" up north. They're nice people, but they definitely fit themselves into a rather specific category. They all go to the same live gigs and shop at the same "recycled clothing" stores. It doesn't make them jerks, though. People are deeper than that. I suggest that the original poster look past it.
