I would recommend Berkeley or Oakland (Rockridge, specifically).

It probably has the most concentrated nightlife in the entire East Bay.

Haven't been super impressed when I have gone out there. I stay on my side of the tunnel.

With the amount of nightlife or scene? Yeah it's not "urban" or "hip" enough for the inner East Bay crowd and probably a little too clean too.

Nightlife is not a huge issue because I can travel on the weekends, it is mainly putting myself in a complex with more young people my age rather than families

Not quite. I always feel like everyone is going out with their own circle and aren't as interested in meeting anyone new.....

Have you tried meetup.com. There is a 20-30s in Walnut Creek group, and a bunch of other ones. In all of my adult years, I haven't found it easy to meet "neighbors" to form the basis of friendships.....

Activities are way better!

So the "scene" is your problem with it and not the "amount/quantity" like I imagined. Tends to be the same argument repeated from those on the other side of the tunnel.

Yup. Commuting east on 580 in the mornings is 1000x better.

OP I'd choose Hayward if you don't want to live in Pleasanton/Dublin. The nightlife is a pretty short ride away wherever you choose to live.

Live in Walnut Creek if you want to meet fellow republicans and spend your life in horrible freeway traffic.

Live in Oakland if you want to meet fellow democrats and take BART.
